How Therapy for Men Can Help

We all develop ways of adapting to life's demands. Sometimes these strategies help us survive, succeed, or simply keep moving forward. They may emerge to protect us from conflict or the weight of others' judgments and expectations. For many men, this can look like keeping things to yourself, staying busy, trying to solve problems on your own, or feeling pressure to remain composed even when something isn't working. You may know that you're frustrated, disconnected, or unhappy without having the words for exactly what's happening - or find that what you're feeling shows up as withdrawal, defensiveness, irritability, or shutting down. Over time, these ways of coping may no longer serve us as they once did, leaving us feeling distant from ourselves or the people we care about, or unsure of where to go next.

Individual therapy offers a space to understand yourself with curiosity rather than judgment. We can make sense of the patterns and experiences shaping your life, explore how they're influencing your relationships and the way you respond to others, and consider what moving forward could look like.

My Approach to Therapy for Men

No two people come to therapy with the same story. I tailor therapy to your experiences, strengths, and goals, drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TEAM-CBT) as core evidence-based foundations, along with Dynamic Emotion Focused Therapy (DEFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and training in mediation and conflict resolution.

Clients often tell me that one of the most meaningful parts of our work is making sense of experiences that once felt confusing or difficult to put into words. At the heart of my approach is curiosity - about your history, relationships, culture, values, strengths, and goals. We'll seek to understand how your experiences have shaped the way you relate to yourself, others, and the world while building ways of responding that feel more flexible and aligned with who you are today.
