What It’s Like to Work With Me

You can talk openly here, including about things you worry others might judge. I bring warmth and curiosity to our conversations, and I’m an active participant in the work. I listen closely, ask focused questions, and, with your permission, share what I notice. Your perspective matters throughout, including when you see things differently or something I’ve said doesn’t fit.

You don’t need to know exactly what you feel or where to begin. There’s room to talk about what you’ve been holding in and take time to make sense of it together. We’ll focus on easing the distress that brought you here and finding more clarity about what you need and how you want to move forward.

In both therapy and coaching, I bring a deep respect for culture, identity, and belonging, shaped in part by my own experience as a first-generation Arab American. All of who you are - your history, culture, religion, values, strengths, and goals - is welcome here.

My Approach

My approach is relational and attachment-based. This means we pay attention to how your experiences shape the ways you connect with others, respond to conflict, and protect yourself when you feel hurt or uncertain. Understanding those responses can help us identify where you want something to change.

I balance emotional exploration with structure and practical work. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dynamic Emotion Focused Therapy (DEFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and TEAM-CBT, tailoring these approaches to your needs and goals.

My training in mediation and conflict resolution also informs how I support individuals and couples navigating communication challenges, mixed neurotype relationships, workplace conflict, family estrangement, and other complex interpersonal dynamics.

In practice, we might slow down a conversation that repeatedly turns into conflict, notice what happens just before you shut down or become defensive, or find words for a feeling that has been hard to express. Alongside that understanding, we can practice ways to communicate more clearly, handle difficult moments, and follow through on the changes that matter to you.

Approaches I Draw From

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

An evidence-based, attachment-focused approach that helps us understand the emotions and needs beneath recurring relationship patterns. We explore how you seek connection, protect yourself when it feels uncertain, and build greater emotional safety and closeness.

Dynamic Emotion Focused Therapy (DEFT)

An experiential approach informed by psychodynamic principles, exploring difficult emotions and the protective responses shaped by earlier experiences. We pay attention to how feelings arise in your body and relationships, helping you approach them with less shame and more choice in how you respond.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

An evidence-based approach that integrates mindfulness, acceptance, and values-guided action. We practice making room for difficult thoughts and feelings while building flexibility in how you respond and taking steps toward what matters to you.

TEAM-CBT

A structured, collaborative approach drawing on evidence-based cognitive and behavioral methods. We explore connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, understand what makes change difficult, and use practical tools with your feedback guiding the process.

My Work With Individuals

I work with adults of all genders, with a particular focus on men’s mental health and relationships. Our sessions may include anxiety, depression, burnout, loneliness, identity, caregiving responsibilities, or uncertainty about work and relationships.

Together, we explore how you relate to yourself and others, including expectations you carry, emotions that are difficult to express, and patterns that may leave you feeling stuck. There is room to understand how those patterns developed while building practical ways to respond differently, communicate your needs, and make choices that reflect what matters to you.

My Work With Couples

Couples come to therapy with different histories, needs, and ways of communicating. I help partners understand the patterns that leave them feeling disconnected, make room for each person’s experience, and practice new ways of responding to one another. We may explore recurring conflict, emotional or physical intimacy, rebuilding trust, differences in how partners think and process emotions, or navigating major decisions and transitions.

Research & Professional Background

In addition to being a licensed therapist, I bring experience in career coaching, higher education leadership, workforce development, and research focused on conflict resolution, professional well-being, and the systems that support helping professionals. This background informs my commitment to evidence-based practice and thoughtful reflection in the therapy process.

These experiences also inform how I understand the pressures people carry beyond the therapy room. Workplaces, family expectations, caregiving responsibilities, and larger systems can all affect the energy and choices available to us. There is room to consider that context alongside the changes you want to make.
