Couples Therapy for Adults Throughout California

When Couples Seek Therapy
Relationships are constantly asking us to adapt. As life changes, so do we - and so do the ways we relate to one another. Over time, couples can find themselves feeling disconnected, caught in familiar patterns, or struggling to navigate challenges that once felt manageable. Even relationships built on love and commitment can reach moments where something no longer feels quite the way it once did. Therapy offers a structured space to slow these conversations down and make room for curiosity where blame, defensiveness, or hurt may have taken over. Together, we'll look beyond the content of recurring disagreements to better understand the histories, emotions, needs, and hopes each of you brings into the relationship. As those patterns become clearer, new ways of responding to one another often begin to emerge naturally.
My Approach to Couples Therapy
I approach each relationship as a collaborative process tailored to your unique needs. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dynamic Emotion Focused Therapy (DEFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My background in mediation and conflict resolution also shapes how I structure conversations when communication has broken down. This means we'll slow conversations when conflict begins to escalate, identify each person's underlying concerns and goals, and create space for both partners to feel heard. This approach is especially helpful for couples navigating mixed neurotype relationships, where differences in communication, executive functioning, sensory needs, or emotional processing can create misunderstandings even when both partners deeply care for one another.
